Southeast Leicestershire Treasure Project - workshops and e-learning resources

Sara has been appointed to develop National Curriculum resources and activities for the Southeast Leicestershire Treasure Project. This amazing group of finds was discovered in 2000 by amateur archaeologists and includes over 5,300 coins, a Roman parade helmet, pottery, ingots, jewellery and pig bone dating from the late Iron Age.
The finds come from a ritual enclosure site, the first of its kind to be excavated by archaeologists. Very little is known about the people living in the East Midlands at this time and so the archaeological evidence is very important.
Sara will develop a range of resources including interactive handling workshops, INSET sessions and web resources to support teachers in accessing these amazing finds. The resources and activities will be informed by and tested with local teachers and pupils.
The treasures will be displayed at Harborough Museum and in two touring exhibitions. The exhibitions and schools resources will be available in 2009.
