Southeast Leicestershire Treasure Project - workshops and e-learning resources
Sara was appointed to develop National Curriculum resources and activities for the Southeast Leicestershire Treasure Project. This amazing group of finds was discovered in 2000 by amateur archaeologists and includes over 5,300 coins, a Roman parade helmet, pottery, ingots, jewellery and pig bone dating from the late Iron Age.
The finds come from a ritual enclosure site, the first of its kind to be excavated by archaeologists. Very little is known about the people living in the East Midlands at this time and so the archaeological evidence is very important.
Sara has developed a range of resources including interactive handling workshops, INSET sessions and web resources to support teachers in accessing these amazing finds. The resources and activities were informed by and tested with local teachers and pupils.
The treasures are displayed at Harborough Museum and in two touring exhibitions.
